Obituary of George Potter Wright

A graveside service for George Potter Wright, 96, of Silsbee will be 11:00 am Friday, October 7, 2011 at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home. Mr. Wright died October 5, 2011 at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare. George was born December 25, 1914 in LaGrangeville, Dutchess County, New York, the son of Lewis Thomas and Hattie Alley Wright. He attended Dutchess County schools, after which he graduated from LSU Forestry School in 1939. Over the years, Mr. Wright was employed with Kirby Lumber Co, International Paper Co, East Texas Pulp and Paper Co and retired from Temple Inland Inc. in 1980. He was a sports minded person and loved to play baseball. George was preceded in death by his wife Helen Justice Wright. Survivors include his sons and their wives, Chuck and Sue Wright of Beaumont and Tommy and Ginger Wright of Silsbee; granddaughter Katie Wright of San Antonio and grandson Charles Wright of Richmond. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mr. Wright to Trinity United Methodist Church, 6 Cross Road, LaGrangeville, NY 12540.
