Obituary of Jo Ann Trahan

Jo Ann Trahan, age 80, passed away Saturday May 5, 2018. She was born to Troy Crawford and Pauline Foster Crawford on September 22, 1937 in Cherokee County, Texas.

Jo Ann was a devoted wife of over 50 years and loving mother and grandmother. Taking care of her family was her calling in life. Although she was a simple woman, she took advantage of God’s surroundings.

She loved the outdoors.  Gardening and mowing the grass were some of her favorite activities. She loved spending time with her son, Bill, where many memories were made fishing at the lake. Jo Ann was a great cook, turning the fish she caught into delicious meals.  She had a feisty side and would stand her ground when she wanted to make a point. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Her legacy will continue.

Preceding Jo Ann in death is her beloved husband of over 50 years, Billy R. Trahan Sr.; parents, Troy Crawford and Pauline Foster Crawford; sister, Pat Jacobsen; and daughter, Donna Kiser.

Left to honor Jo Ann’s memory is her son, Billy Trahan, Jr. of Sam Rayburn, TX; daughter, Phyllis A. Thompson and partner, Mike Summers, of Sour Lake; sisters, Linda Goodwin and husband, Jerry, of Wells, TX, Troylene Blackmon and husband, Glenn, of Livingston, TX; brother, Mike Crawford of Wells, TX; grandchildren, Shannon Trahan and wife, Sabrina, of Sour Lake, TX, John Trahan and wife, Ashley, of Lumberton, TX, Amanda Miller of Lumberton, TX, Ashley Harper and husband, David, of Kountze, TX, Kourtney Ramirez and husband, Manuel, of Beaumont, TX, Marisa Kiser, Maddie Kiser, Braydon Kiser, and Dylan Winfrey, all of Sour Lake; 13 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends and family Tuesday, May 8, 2018, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N. 4th St., Silsbee, TX 77656. Jo Ann’s life honoring funeral service will be held Wednesday May 9, 2018, 10:00 am at the funeral home chapel, officiating by brother, Kenny Ray. Interment will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Shannon Trahan, John Trahan, Jeffery Trahan, Scotty Kiser, George Thompson, Braydon Kiser and Lee Latil.

The family would like to thank all of her wonderful caregivers from Harbor Hospice and the Clairmont Nursing Home and her Special Friend “Adrena.”
