Obituary of Jerry Grayson Smith

Jerry Grayson Smith, 68, of Evadale, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 28, 1949 in Montgomery, AL. He was the oldest of 5 siblings and he helped raise his youngest sister, Shawn. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War, where he spent 19 months.  He retired as a millwright for Huntsman Chemical in Port Arthur. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and tending to his yard. He devoted much of his time to keeping up with his kids and grandkids. He was a caring husband, he was constantly by his wife’s side during her heart transplant, tending to her every need. After he retired, he became a fulltime babysitter for his grandsons and played a huge role in their upbringing. He loved his family more than life itself, including his little dog, Bandit. You never left his house hungry, he would always feed you. He was proud of his family and all of their successes and he enjoyed relaxing at his son, Jeff’s ranch in Anahuac. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
