Virginia Groda

Obituary of Virginia Groda

Virginia "Ginnie" Ehrhart Groda, 74, La Porte, TX, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018, at a Silsbee area nursing home. She was born in Beaumont, TX, August 26, 1943.  Ginnie was an avid reader and a creative person. She enjoyed ceramics, making stained glass art and sewing.  Ginnie loved tending to her yard and growing beautiful flowers.  She was also a craftsman and had more tools than most men can dream about. She was down to earth and she never tried to impress people.  Ginnie was always a big sister, even after she left home.  She had a big heart and was always willing to help others.  She ran her on "charity", helping others financially, even though she lived modestly.  She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

Ginnie is preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Groda; parents, Joseph and Arlene Ehrhart and half-sister, Joann Sheffield.

She is survived by her siblings, Joe Ehrhart of Dickinson, ND, Pat Ehrhart of Wimberley, TX, and Bill Ehrhart of Lumberton, TX; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other family members. She is also survived by her life-long best friend, Karen Rose of Redmond, WA.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at Farmer Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Ray McNames.
