Obituary of Minnie L. "Mickey" Sumner

Mrs. Minnie Lou “Mickey” Sumner, age 77, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018.

Mrs. Sumner was born March 28, 1941, in San Augustine, Texas, and was the baby of seven children. She married the love of her life on August 18, 1956. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone into her home. She had a way about her that made each person feel special. She loved fishing, road trips, and her family most of all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie J. Sumner; her parents, Arthur Lee Oliver and Katherine Oliver McDaniel; a son, Britt D. Sumner; brothers, Jr., Carol Arthur, and Jack Oliver; and a sister, Tince Harris.

Her survivors include her sisters, Sally Patrick and Billie Murphy; her children, Tony Sumner, Brian Sumner and wife Debra, Michelle Nason and husband Danny, and Mark Sumner and wife Sonja; grandchildren, Jessie Sumner and wife Brittany, Rebecca Sumner-Ellis and husband Garry, David Sumner and wife M.J., Rusty Sumner, Emily Day, Janette Green and husband Justin, James Sumner and wife Helen, Robert Kirbow and wife Christine, B.J. Sumner and wife Stefani, Eric Sumner, April Sumner, Sarah Sumner, Samuel Sumner, Aaron Sumner, William Sumner, and Ethan Sumner; 19 great-grandchilden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home, located at 415 N. Fourth Street in Silsbee, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018, at Silsbee’s First Pentecostal Church, located at 1403 N. Fifth Street, with Rev. C.M. Duplissey and Rev. Homer Looper officiating. Interment will follow at Farmer Memorial Cemetery, located at 820 S. Third Street in Silsbee, Texas.
