Obituary of Robert Lee Parr

Robert Lee “Bob” Parr passed away August 27, 2018. He was born in Roswell, New Mexico, on September 12, 1931; he was 86 years old.

Survivors include wife, Jane Parr of Silsbee; daughter, Pam Langley and husband, Dale of Silsbee; sons, Clint Parr of Silsbee, Matt Parr of Friendswood, and Wade Parr of Midland; sisters, Ila Rankin and husband, Walter of Lufkin, and Margie Rasmussen of Lufkin; brother, Herbert Parr and wife, Sandy of Rusk; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Parr; parents, Willis and Ila Parr; son, Robbie Parr; brothers, Harold Parr and Ray Parr.

Bob spent 4 years in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. After coming home from the war, he became a mechanic and worked with various oil companies, retiring from ARCO Oil and Gas. He later worked at Silsbee Doctor’s Hospital in the maintenance department. While his sons were in school, he enjoyed leading Boy Scouts with his brother, Ray. He enjoyed the time he spent at Knupple Park where he walked and fed the squirrels. He was a member of Caneyhead Assembly of God.

The family would like to thank Silsbee Oaks, Acadian Ambulance, and the Silsbee Fire Department for their care and support.

The family will receive friends at Farmer Funeral Home on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Bill Coffey and Reverend Earl Crawford. Interment will take place at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery.
