Obituary of Billy Jack Coplen

Mr. Billy Jack Coplen, age 81, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Mr. Coplen was born August 30, 1936, to parents Barney Elzie Coplen and Levie Jordan Coplen. A longtime resident of Silsbee, Billy spent many of his early years in the Beaumont and Woodville areas, graduating from high school in Woodville. He served in the U.S. Army.

Billy worked several years in the area as an automotive mechanic, over 20 years with Silsbee Ford, and then retiring from Silsbee Motor Company. He enjoyed wood working and had made various projects over the years. In recent years he had been attending Genesis Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Jay Coplen; his parents; brothers, Elzie Coplen, Cleo Coplen, and Sherwood Coplen; and a sister, Helen Mott.

His survivors include his wife, Monema Sharon Coplen of Silsbee, Texas; daughters, Sharon Elaine Farrell and husband Lynn of Broaddus, Texas, and Mona Irene Rawls and husband James of Silsbee, Texas; a son, William Andy Coplen and wife Carrie of Vidor, Texas; daughter-in-law, Maria Coplen of Ennis, Texas; brothers, Troy Coplen of Colmesneil, Texas, and Bobby Coplen of Wyoming; a sister, Deloris Cox of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Josh Brewer, Jared Brewer, Jessica Landaverde, Kasey Smith, Tanya Smith, Lindsey Ratcliff, Rudy Rawls, Megan Rawls, Sean Coplen, Madison Coplen, and Luke Prine; and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 31, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home, located at 415 N. Fourth Street in Silsbee, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Farmer Funeral Home’s chapel with Pastor Tony Moye officiating.  Interment will follow at Franks Branch Cemetery, located on FM 92 in Fred, Texas.
