Obituary of Thelma Dickinson Davenport

Mrs. Thelma Dickinson Davenport, age 93, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away on September 4, 2018.

Mrs. Davenport was born on January 27, 1925, in Hull, Texas.  As a child her family moved to Silsbee, where she resided until the time of her death.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Silsbee and involved in local community activities.  Mrs. Davenport owned and operated the Woodlea Beauty Shop for over 30 years.

In 1943 Mrs. Davenport married her high school sweetheart David E. Davenport, Sr.  Their family included three children, David E. Davenport, Jr., of St. Louis, Missouri, Sandra Davenport McLendon, of Lumberton, Texas, and Toni Leigh Davenport of Silsbee, Texas.  She was the proud grandmother of David E. Davenport, III, of El Paso, Texas, Charisse McLendon Tolleson of Pasadena, California, William C. McLendon, III, of Durango, Colorado, and Ronald Ryan Pemberton of Cleveland, Texas.  She was also the great-grandmother of Emeline, Henry and Ridley Tolleson and Kristan, Ethan and Caiden Pemberton.

Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by her husband David, who died in 1977, and her parents, Huntley and Bessie Dickinson, sisters Modena Harper and Lucille Harville, and brothers, Clifton and Gordon Dickinson.

Graveside services are set for 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2018, at Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee.
