Obituary of Thomas Lee "Tommy" Burnett, Sr.

Mr. Thomas Lee “Tommy” Burnett, age 74, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

He was born January 21, 1944, in Evadale, Texas, to parents Carl Lee Burnett and Lillie Mae (Whitmire) Burnett.  Tommy had been a lifelong resident of the area. He had a great love for outdoor activities, being a very avid hunter and fisherman. For quite some time, Tommy was the owner of a fish market and later he and his family owned a fruit and vegetable stand on Highway 96 North. He had also worked several years ago as a barber in Vidor.

His survivors include his wife, Patricia Burnett of Silsbee; his sons, Tommy Burnett Jr. and Andy Burnett, both of Silsbee; two grandsons, Alex Burnett of Silsbee and Thomas Burnett III and wife Jennifer of Vidor; a sister, Maxine Sherman of Evadale; brother, Melvin Whitmire of Bellville; uncles, Truman Whitmire of Vidor and R.C. Whitmire of Evadale; and an aunt, Annie Dryden of Kansas City.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home, located at 415 N. Fourth Street in Silsbee.
