Obituary of Mary Edith Collins

Mrs. Mary Edith Collins, age 92, of Cleburne, Texas, and former longtime
resident of Evadale, Texas, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018, in
Cleburne, Texas.

Mary’s parents (William Lewis Nash and Margaret Light Nash) were Methodist
missionaries to Korea who met and were married there. While in Seoul, Korea,
Mary was born April 24, 1926. The Nash family soon relocated to West
Columbia, Texas, where Mary grew up and graduated from high school before
attending Lon Morris College. Mary worked as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Houston before marrying Norman Collins on June 21, 1951.

Mary and Norman then made their home in Evadale and reared their children
there as Mary became a very devoted wife and mother, and later grandmother
and great-grandmother. Over the years, they were faithful members of the
Evadale Church of Christ and the West Main Church of Christ in Vidor. In 2012,
they relocated to live with their daughter and son-in-law in Sour Lake, Texas, and
there became members of Dowlen Road Church of Christ. In 2017, Mary and
Norman moved to the Cleburne area to be with their son and daughter-in-law.

Mary’s survivors include her husband of 67 years, Norman Collins; daughters,
Sarah Margaret Davis and husband Allen of Sour Lake, Texas; Norma Collins
Cowart and husband John of New Braunfels, Texas; a son, Thomas Sidney
Collins and wife Beth of Grandview, Texas; brothers, Dr. William Light Nash of
Asheville, North Carolina, and John Cornelius Nash of West Columbia, Texas; a
