Obituary of Carrie Alice Vickery

Mrs. Carrie Alice (Griner) Vickery of Vidor, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018, in Vidor, Texas, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 2 days.

Mrs. Vickery was born August 28, 1940, in Jasper, Texas, to parents William Robert “Bob” Griner and Etta Mae (Earl) Griner. She had earlier been a resident of the Jasper area along with other areas but had lived in Vidor for the past several years. Carrie enjoyed ceramic works and fishing. In later years, she loved traveling in the RV with her best friend, the late Ruth Nugent, who was just like a sister to her.

Her survivors include her daughters, Alice Wroten of Huntsville, Texas, Johnnie Johnson and husband Darrell of Buna, Texas, and Mary Hamilton of Vidor, Texas; a brother, Howard Griner and wife Sandra of Warren, Texas; a sister, Ann Thomason of Jasper, Texas; grandchildren, Bobby Spoonmore, Brian Belden, Kimberly Rainwater, Michael Rainwater, Scott Belden, Sean Hamilton, Daniel Martin, Stephen Wroten, James Wroten, and Stephanie Johnson; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Vickery; a son, Lloyd Spell; a daughter, Wanda Rainwater; sons-in-law, Clint Martin, Randy Wroten, Larry Belden, and Michael D. Rainwater; granddaughter, Laurie Copeland; and a grandson, Jeffery Belden.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home, located at 415 N. Fourth Street in Silsbee, Texas.
