Obituary of Roy Burton Moore

Mr. Roy Burton Moore, age 72, of Fred, Texas, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at his residence.

Born September 4, 1946, Roy was a native and lifelong resident of Fred. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. Soon after his discharge, he went to work at the paper mill in Evadale, Texas, and worked there until retirement. He was a Mason, having been a longtime member of Snow River Lodge #385. Mr. Moore also served a number of years on the board of trustees for Warren Independent School District and was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Janis Jordan Moore of Fred; son, Roy “Burt” Moore Jr. and wife Shannon of Fred; daughter, Latricia Cravy and husband David of Silsbee; grandchildren, Tiffany Worthey of Spurger, Taylor Moore of Fred, Shelby Deal of Kountze, Samantha Deal of Silsbee, Roy Burton “Troy” Moore III of Lumberton, and Gracie Moore of Fred; great-grandchildren, Bailey Worthey and Rena Worthey, both of Spurger, and Wyatt Deal and Gracelynn Taylor, both of Kountze; step-sons, Chris Shipp of Colmesneil, Tim Shipp of Batson, Brian Shipp of Lumberton, and Kenny Shipp of Nome; six step-granddaughters; sisters, Nova Dee Stumph of Silsbee, and Bobbie Jean Gregory and Martha Nell Ard, both of Fred; and brothers, Don Moore of Silsbee, and Dwon Moore and Robert Moore, both of Fred; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Opal Moore; brothers, Dennis Moore and Travis Moore; and a sister, Glendia Lou Moore.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, located at 20468 FM 92 in Fred.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018, at Mount Olivet Baptist Church with Pastor Wes Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Frank’s Branch Cemetery, located on FM 92 South in Fred, with graveside rites presented by Southeast Texas Veterans Group and Snow River Lodge #385.
