Obituary of Ollie Odessa McGowan

Mrs. Ollie Odessa McGowan, 89, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 89 years, 2 months, 12 days.

She was born Oct. 13, 1929, in West Columbia, Texas. A resident of Silsbee for a number of years, she was a former resident of Alvin, Texas, where she graduated from high school.

Mrs. McGowan retired from Kountze Independent School District after years of faithful service in the school cafeteria. After giving her heart to Jesus, she had been a faithful and dedicated member of Wiley Mae Community Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Destinee Webb.

Mrs. McGowan's survivors include a granddaughter, Anesha Younger of Lumberton, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Pete Rodgers; two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Wiley Mae Community Baptist Church, located at 9823 Old Spurger Hwy. near Silsbee, Texas, with Pastor C.W. Lawrence officiating.
