Obituary of Eda Windham

Eda Mackey Windham, age 88, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, in Hemphill, Texas. She was born to Hunter Harris Mackey and Vera Munson Mackey on May 16, 1930, in Ace, Texas.

She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for holidays and special occasions. She loved gardening, traveling, dancing, bowling, fishing and playing cards and dominoes with family and friends.

She had various jobs over the years, including telephone operator, secretary at Bethlehem Steel in Beaumont, selling her family’s produce at the Farmer’s Market in Beaumont and she retired as the top salesperson of her department at Beall’s in Beaumont.

She will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew her. We, the family of Eda, would like to thank the Groveton Nursing Home and Hemphill Care Center for the love and care they provided our mother over the last 14 months.

Left to honor her memory are her sons, Gary Bohler of Jacksonville, Florida, David Bartholdi and wife Melda of Hemphill, Texas, and Lynn Windham of Austin, Texas; daughters, Jolynn Wars and husband Shanon of Groveton, Texas, Lori Jacks and husband Buck of Milam, Texas, Beverly Vinson and husband Keith of Weatherford, Texas, and Bonita Hickman of Anchorage, Alaska; brothers, Hershel Mackey and wife Phyllis of Ace, Texas, and Lindon Mackey and wife Bernadette of Bastrop, Texas; along with 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Windham; sister, Bonnie Jean Guy; grandson, Jacob Alan Holmes; and granddaughter, Kim Herring.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Farmer Funeral Home, located at 415 N. Fourth Street in Silsbee, Texas.

Services are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Farmer Funeral Home’s chapel with David Bartholdi officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, located on S. Third Street in Silsbee, Texas.

Pallbearers will include Hershel Mackey, Lindon Mackey, David Bartholdi, Jolynn Wars, Lori Jacks, Josh Holmes, and Ashley Herrington.
