Obituary of Karen Rebecca Jensen

Karen Rebecca Jensen, 58, of Silsbee passed away on January 1, 2019, in Kountze Texas.

Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Pastor David Nugent will be officiating services immediately following visitation. A second visitation will be on Monday, January 7, 2019, from 12:00 p.m., to 1:30 p.m., at Coffman Funeral Home, 12855 US-27, Summerville, Georgia. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., in Westhill Cemetery in Trion, Georgia.

Karen was born in Summerville, Georgia to Grady and Marlinda Bennett on Tuesday, June 28, 1960. She graduated from Spurger High School at the top of her class in 1978. Following graduation Karen joined the United States Army, in which she completed her 4-year enlistment as a sergeant. Karen attended Lamar University, where she pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She then graduated in 1998, with a Master of Education degree as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Karen was very passionate about helping others and thoroughly loved her career as a psychotherapist for over 20 years. The last 10 years of her career were spent at the Guiding Light Counseling Center, where she used not only her education, but her Christian values and beliefs to help those in need. Karen was also heavily involved in Special Olympics as a volunteer and served as the Vice President of Silsbee ARC.

Karen is preceded in death by her father Grady Bennett, grandparents Thomas and Katherine Langston, grandparents Otis and Eula Bennett and lifelong friends Henry and Melba Gravenmier.

Karen is survived by son Caleb; daughter Rebecca Daniels and husband Tom; sister Melody Hall and husband Mike; brother Mark Bennett and wife Tammy; brother John Bennett and wife Dione; mother Marlinda Tucker and stepfather Frank Tucker, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

So many lives have been changed because of Karen. She provided light in the dark and guidance through the seas of life.
