Obituary of Curtis Junior Blankenship

Mr. Curtis J. Blankenship of Silsbee, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 13 days.

Mr. Blankenship was born September 25, 1930, in Fuqua, Texas (Liberty County) to parents Curtis Reuben Blankenship and Lula Mae Hickman Blankenship. Curtis was a retired pipefitter, having been a member of Local #211 for 65 years. He was a devoted husband and father to his family. Curtis had lived in Hardin County, Texas, for several years and was a dedicated member of North Hardin Baptist Church.

Favorite pastimes for Curtis were bowling and playing pool. He had a great love for the work of welding, as well. He was always happy to share information and tips about these subjects to family and friends.

His survivors include his wife, Melva Harmon Blankenship of Silsbee, Texas; a daughter, Charlotte Goodwin and husband Terry of Tomball, Texas; step-children, Larry Wayne McCaleb of Manvel, Texas, Lisa Williamson and husband Gary of Richards, Texas, Homer McKinney and wife Cleo of Crosby, Texas, and Dana McKinney of Highlands, Texas; a brother, Jerry Blankenship and wife Linda of Cleveland, Texas; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Blankenship; brothers, Edward Blankenship and Bud D. Blankenship; and a sister, Neva Henley.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel, located at 415 N. Fourth Street in Silsbee, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2019, at North Hardin Baptist Church, located at 11574 FM 92, north of Silsbee, Texas, with Bro. Mike Anderson officiating. Interment will follow with graveside rites at 2:00 p.m. at Abshier Cemetery, located on County Road 112 off Hwy. 61 near Devers, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Conner, Bradley Conner, Craig Williamson, Stan Blankenship, Terry Blankenship, and Vance Cawley.
