Obituary of Carolyn Lyvonne Griffis

Mrs. Carolyn Lyvonne Griffis of Silsbee, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 64 years, 5 months, and 24 days.

A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Griffis was born September 30, 1954, in Silsbee, Texas, to parents Carl Louie Williams Sr. and Lillie Mae Moore Williams.

Caring for others was a trait that came natural for Carolyn. She spent many years working as a medication nurse in area nursing homes and also cared for family members. She especially found great pleasure taking care of grandchildren. She loved her fur babies and was always seeing to the dogs and cat.

Carolyn loved holidays, but most important was getting to decorate for Christmas. Gardening and work in the yard were favorite past times for her while she was able—Carolyn could make any flower grow. Many happy hours were also spent fishing, and she was always excited to take the grandchildren fishing.

Her survivors include her husband, David Eugene Griffis Sr. of Silsbee, Texas; sons, David Michael Griffis and wife Carla of Buna, Texas, Michael Andrew Griffis of Silsbee, Texas, Mark Anthony Griffis and wife Stacey of Silsbee, Texas, and David Eugene Griffis Jr. and wife Sarah of Lumberton, Texas; daughtes, Angel Winfree of Silsbee, Texas, Sandra Griffis of Port Arthur, Texas, and Brandi Swearingen of Kountze, Texas; brothers, Jerry Williams and wife Belma of Silsbee, Texas, Frankie Williams and wife Helen of Silsbee, Texas, and Johnny Williams and wife Juanella Thomason of Kountze, Texas; sisters, Linda Crocker of Houston, Texas, Jo Ann Aarant of Jasper, Texas, and Bertie Gore of Village Mills, Texas; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl L. Williams Jr.; and sisters, Helen Sartor and Mary Nell Brown.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home, located at 415 N. Fourth Street in Silsbee, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Winfree officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, located on S. Third Street in Silsbee, Texas.

Pallbearers: David Michael Griffis, David E. Griffis Jr., Chris Winfree, Angel Winfree, Cody Swearingen, and Kyle Swearingen. An honorary pallbearer will be Mark Anthony Griffis.
