Obituary of Donald Edward Word

Donald Edward Word, 76, of Silsbee, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019. He was born in Silsbee, TX on January 15, 1943. He graduated from Silsbee High School in 1961. After some time working and attending Lamar University, he joined the U. S. Marine Corps and went to boot camp at Parris Island, SC.

During his life, Donald worked for several refineries and retired from Huntsman Company in 2002.

Donald played football during high school and could vividly remember each game and player. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Donald leaves a legacy of love and integrity with his family and those who knew him. He has left behind wonderful memories of a loving husband, grandfather, and father. We are grateful for each and every day we got to see his glowing smile, and for the lessons learned, and all the jokes we shared. He will be dearly missed, but will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Madison and Dessie Word.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Word of Silsbee; sons, Michael Word of Silsbee, and Bryan Word of Silsbee; and one grandson, Logan Word of Silsbee, and numerous cousins and friends.

His family will receive friends at Farmer Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Paul Scott. Interment will follow at Knupple Cemetery is Silsbee.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Word, Jeff Holcomb, Terry Tanton, Matthew Word, Benjamin Word, Donnie Barnett, Wesley Simpson, and Sam Barrow.
