Obituary of Alice Mae Barrett

Alice Mae Barrett, 96, of Livingston, formerly of Silsbee, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 21, 2019. Alice was a good Christian woman, she was a member of New Covenant Church in Silsbee and then when she moved to Livingston, she joined New Beginnings Church. She was a very active and hard-working person. She was a carpenter and a seamstress, for a time she ran her own upholstery business. Alice was also a great cook, she would spend all day in the kitchen, preparing one meal right after the other. She was very talented, she was a great quilter, and made her daughter’s wedding dresses. Alice loved playing Skipbo with her kids and grandchildren. She loved her family very much. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Louie Barrett; daughter, Bobbie Jean Barrett Lowe; father, Fred Gertson; mother, Annie Bell Joehlin; siblings, Buddy Gertson, Evelyn Gertson, Donald Gertson, Norman Gertson, and Chris Gertson.

She is survived by her loving children, Bill Barrett, Sr. of Livingston, Katherine Kinard and husband, Elbert of Livingston, and Marie Nichols and husband, Ed of Silsbee; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ann Johnson of Hackberry, LA, and Judy Mann of Livingston.

Her family will receive friends at Farmer Funeral Home, Sunday, June 23, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Mark Herridge. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Burke, David Roth, Mark Herridge, Jr., Josh Herridge, Jason Gilbert, and Hank Lowe. Cody Roth will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
