Obituary of Ivy Robert O'Quinn

Ivy "Joe" Robert O'Quinn, age 78, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 2:00 PM, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Silsbee, Texas, with Bishop Brian Bebee officiating services. Interment will immediately follow services at Sheffield Family Cemetery in Spurger, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to services, from 12:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

Joe was born on Friday, September 20, 1940, in Silsbee, Texas to parents, Ruby (Ruggles) and Ivy Pierre O'Quinn. He was a lifetime resident of Silsbee, where he was known and loved by many people. Joe was a man of all trades, from getting crafty with wood work to drawing, he could do a little bit of it all. He also enjoyed playing backyard games like horseshoes and volleyball. He also enjoyed camping and watching the Dallas Cowboys play football. Joe and his wife, Sheila, took many road trips together to Colorado, California, New Mexico, Utah, Idaho and many other places, as the two loved the mountains. He loved his family beyond measure and would do anything to see them happy. He was very involved in his church and enjoyed attending every chance he got. Joe also spent three years serving his country in the United States Military. He was truly, a man of honor.

Joe was a son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Ivy Pierre and Ruby O'Quinn; brother, William Robert O'Quinn, as well as sisters, Cleola Marie Abernathy and Josephine Crain.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sheila O'Quinn; children, DeeAnn Allen and husband, Ashley and Sabrina Owens and husband Brad; grandchildren, Morgan Villasan, Grant Allen, Abigail Allen, Corbin Owens, Reagan Owens and Reese Owens; great grandsons, Jaxx Villasan and Camson Villasan; sisters, Mildred Cox and husband Richard, Margaret Wilkerson and Ruby Gore, as well as brothers, Simon O'Quinn and wife Nancy and Steve O'Quinn.
