Obituary of Larry Eugene Wilkerson

Larry Eugene Wilkerson, age 64, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at 12:00 PM, at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee, Texas. Interment will immediately follow services at Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to services, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

Larry was born on Saturday, June 25, 1955, in Tomball, Texas to parents, Dorothy Mae (Sparks) and JD Wilkerson. Larry graduated from Silsbee High School in 1973. He was a man of all trades and enjoyed life to the fullest. Larry was a truck driver for many years and traveled all over the country. He enjoyed building and flying his own model airplanes, traveling and specifically to the great smoky mountains, taking pictures at every state line, camping, fishing, tinkering with and building things in his shops at home. Larry traveled from Conroe, Texas to Sulphur, Louisiana to purchase a 1971 Volkswagen Beetle. He completely restored it and painted it a few different colors over the years and had a wonderful time doing so. He also enjoyed driving race cars on the dirt track every chance he got, as that was something he had done since he was young. Larry had a few dogs that he loved very much, as they were like the sons he never had.

Larry was a son, husband, father, grandfather and friend who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Larry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Leta Wilkerson, his second wife, after the passing of his first wife, Patricia Wilkerson, as well as his father, JD Wilkerson.

Larry is survived by his children, Kristy Bowman (Wilkerson) and husband Craig, Lisa Wilkerson and Elizabeth Wilkerson; mother, Dorothy Fregia; sister, Joyce Callaway, niece, Sharon Brittain and husband Jack; grandchildren, Gavin Crawford, Collin Crawford and Layla Crawford.
