Obituary of Shirley Ann Burnes

Shirley Ann Burnes, 71, of Silsbee, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019. She was born January 9, 1948 in Silsbee. She was a member of Oak Grove Harvest Assembly of God Church. Shirley was a bus driver for Silsbee and Woodville. She also worked as the school’s custodian for a time. Shirley also worked attending to the needs of the elderly. She was a loving woman who never met a stranger. Her house was always a welcoming place for everyone. She was a very generous and giving woman even when times were tough. She had a servant’s heart and a loving spirit. Shirley will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Dick Burnes; father, Cecil Hall; mother, Emma Gore; great-grandmothers, Dovie Hooks and Stella (Hall) Gay and grandson, Gabriel Burnes.

She is survived by her loving children, Jess Burnes and wife, Cheree of Silsbee, Mike Burnes and wife, Tammy of Colmesneil, Julia Burnes of Fred, Chad Burnes and wife Misty of Spurger, Charlene Scott and husband, Henry of Fred, and Gena Tanton and husband, Mike of Fred; grandchildren, Brandon Rainer, Jimmy Rawls, Candi Hollyfield, Brandi Riley, Tristan Jess Burnes, Dakota Paul Burnes, Savannah Brook Wilson, Lee Kissinger, Taylour Janelle Russell, Brandy Renee Meza, Christopher Meza, Lauren Ann Ramsey, Chelsee Burnes, Destinee Jarell, Cody Freeman, Dustin William Burnes, Haylie Marie Primrose, Cody Wayne Scott, Zach Tanton, and Jada Tanton; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Nelson Hall and wife, Letha of Fred, Linda Kellum of Silsbee, and Alton Hall of Fred; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at Farmer Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Scott Briggs. Interment will follow at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jess Burnes, Mike Burnes, Chad Burnes, Dustin Burnes, T. J. Burnes, and Dakota Burnes.
