Obituary of Barbara Jenette Smith

Barbara Jenette Smith, 90, of Plum Ridge, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019. She was born on November 12, 1928 in Alto, Texas. She grew up in Silsbee and then raised her family in Kountze. Early in life Barbara was an avid golfer and when she became a mother, it was her job to keep up with her children’s football, baseball, basketball, rodeo, etc. Barbara retired from Eastex Paper Mill in 1992. After her retirement, Barbara moved to Plum Ridge near Lake Sam Rayburn where she was surrounded by a multitude of her friends. She loved tending to her garden and planting flowers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Barbara will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Sally Dear; son, Ronnie Smith, Sr.; sister, Sue Lakey; brothers, Harold Dear, Winkie Dear, and Robert Allen Dear.

Barbara is survived by her son, Leslie Smith and wife, Cheryl of Cleveland; grandchildren, David Smith and wife, Wendy, Joshua Allen Smith and wife, Michele, Ron Smith and wife Renee, Tonya Reynolds and husband, Quincy, and Tony Walston and wife, Kristy; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Dear and wife, Emma of Silsbee, Billy Dear and wife, Earlene of Silsbee; sister, Patricia Fay Ard of OK; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.

Her family will receive friends at Farmer Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Farmer Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Hilton Ferguson. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Silsbee.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Smith, David Smith, Ron Smith, Charles Dear, B. J. Dear, and Patrick Dear.
