Obituary of Carter Ellis Atkinson

Mr. Carter Ellis Atkinson received his heavenly mansion, on August 26, 2019 at the age of 75 in Hemphill, Texas. Carter was born January 1, 1944 to James C. Atkinson, and Meda (Ellis) Atkinson, in Tyler.  Carter Ellis Atkinson married Elsie Delores Neely and they had 50 wonderful years together. They raised two beautiful children together. Mr. Atkinson served our country proudly. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. After the war he worked for many years as a boilermaker for Valero.

Carter Atkinson was preceded in death by his parents Rezie and James C Atkinson; as well as his beloved wife Elsie Delores Atkinson.

Survivors include his son Robert Atkinson and wife Jessica of Groves; daughter Dana Austin and husband Benson of Nederland; grandchildren Presley Atkinson and Preston Hughes and Gavin Austin.

The funeral services for Carter Ellis Atkinson, 75, of Hemphill, will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 30, 2019 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
