Obituary of William Roy Gravis

Mr. William Roy Gravis of Evadale, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 69 years, 2 days.

Roy was born October 6, 1950, in Silsbee, Texas, to parents Bruce William Gravis and Ruby Bell Gravis. He was a lifelong resident of Evadale and was very dedicated to his community. Roy served several years as a school board member for Evadale School District and was a key figure in Little Dribblers at Evadale in various capacities through the years. With 26 years of service, he retired as a security officer at Temple-Inland (presently WestRock) in Evadale.

His survivors include his sons, William Roy Gravis II and wife Brandie of Silsbee, Texas, and Rhett Gravis of Baytown, Texas; grandchildren, Ethan Gravis and Mariana Gravis, both of Beaumont, Texas, Braden Gravis and Madison Gravis, both of Silsbee, Texas, and Bishop Gravis of Baytown, Texas; a brother, Johnny Dale Gravis and wife Linda of Evadale, Texas; and his sister, Kathy Guillory and husband Ronnie of Evadale, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce William and Ruby Bell Gravis; and brothers, Bruce Dwain Gravis and James Michael "Mike" Gravis.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 11, 2019, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Beginnings Assembly of God, located at 1614 FM 105 in Evadale, Texas.

Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at New Beginnings Assembly of God with Bro. Jeff Gravis officiating. Interment will follow at Morse Cemetery, located on County Road 777, south of Buna, Texas.
