Obituary of Martha Jane Flowers

Mrs. Martha Jane Flowers of Silsbee, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 87.

Mrs. Flowers was born February 28, 1932, in Big Sandy, Texas. She graduated from high school in Sour Lake, Texas. Martha was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, before moving to Silsbee in 1988. Upon moving to Silsbee, she became a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of Texas Woman's Club-Magnolia District and a faithful worker at the Christian Care Center for many years.

Her survivors include a daughter, Janette Flowers of Silsbee, Texas; daughter, Jeanet Steffey and husband Mike of Grapeland, Texas; a son, Richard Flowers and his wife Gail Whitmire of Houston, Texas; her sister, Joyce McClung; a nephew, Mike McClung and wife Danise; and a niece, Cindy Forse and husband Mike.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Henry Flowers Jr., on Dec. 5, 2009. 

Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Silsbee's First United Methodist Church, located at 670 North Fifth Street, with Pastor David Green officiating. Private burial will be at the Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake, Texas.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m at the church.

In lieu of flowers and usual remembrances, the family is suggesting memorials to the Christian Care Center of Silsbee.

Services are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
